BSc Accounting and Financial Management
Overview
Recent corporate scandals across the world have drawn attention to the importance of accountancy and finance, and particularly towards corporate responsibility in financial reporting – both towards employees and all external stakeholders. The BSc Accounting and Financial Management is designed to address some of the demands and challenges of financial management in today’s business world, while still teaching the underlying skills in what is proving to be one of the most dynamic and fast-changing areas of business.
With an academically rigorous study of principal accounting and finance disciplines, and strong vocational orientation, the BSc Accounting and Financial Management programme remains a very attractive option in preparing you for a career in Accounting and Finance.
Graduates will gain:
- The knowledge and ability, not only to understand and produce financial reporting information, but perhaps more importantly how to interpret it – particularly at a time when financial information has occasionally become known for its creative cover ups asmuch as its factual information
- The tools to evaluate risk using stablished formulas - an integral part of organisational decision-making, in a current environment where many companies have become more risk averse.
- A grounding on the ethical issues associated with financial reporting and rules of disclosure.
- We recognise that many graduates will wish to undertake further study in order to gain full professional qualifications. Successful completion of certain modules will give candidates exemptions from some UK professional examinations, as shown below:
