BSc Business and Management

Overview

As recent years have shown, the global business environment has never been more complex than today. Faced with increasing volatility and unpredictability, the way companies shape their strategies and the decisions of management teams are all the more crucial to the success of modern organisations. Equally, in an increasingly connected world, critical decisions cannot be taken in isolation from the wider global context.
At no point in recent history has there been a more relevant time to study the dynamics of business and its role within the global environment. In line with the theme of globalisation, a strong focus in the early part of the programme is to understand the various external driving forces for change and the internal responses necessary for the business to survive and prosper. Blending a solid theoretical grounding with sound practical knowledge, the programme stays aligned with the requirements of businesses in recruiting innovative management talent, while always striving to meet students’ career aspirations. The main aim of the BSc Business and Management remains to equip graduates with the sound business knowledge needed to take on a managerial role and the analytical/decisionmaking skills to face the day-to-day challenges of today’s business leaders.

Graduates will gain:
  • A broad range of management skills and competencies, including accounting and finance, leadership and people management, information and communications technology, economics, marketing and law.
  • A balance of theoretical knowledge and practical study. Real-life projects are used to enhance the learning experience and provide graduates with the capabilities to work effectively within a dynamic and volatile business environment.
  • The professional attitudes and communications skills needed to succeed in business, complementing the business knowledge gained from the programme.
  • The course is also designed to be highly participatory, encouraging students to analyse and critically evaluate diverse arguments and theories.

For those with further academic aspirations, a BSc is also a passport to further studies at post-graduate level, such as an MBA.
