The recent discovery of oil and gas resources and its production has the potential to bring about socioeconomic transformation in Uganda. However, the oil and gas industry is new to Uganda and there are a number of challenges before the full benefits of exploiting these newly discovered resources can be realized. One of the main challenges is lack of adequate, trained and skilled human resources along the oil and gas value chain. That is, scientists, managers, legal experts and business analysts are in short supply for the oil and gas sector. To close the manpower gap and contribute to local content development in line with objective 7 and 8 of the National Oil and Gas Policy for Uganda 2008: (7) To ensure optimum participation in oil and gas activities and (8) to support the development and maintenance of national expertise; Victoria University, a leading student centered education institution, with state of the art facilities in the heart of Kampala City is leading by example by delivering executive oil and gas trainings programs to prepare Ugandans to tap into the opportunities in the oil and gas value chain in the East African Region.

In addition, our trainers are either working in Uganda’s oil and gas sector or engaged as oil and gas industry consultants. • Our Training programs are designed to equip participants with practical business and managerial skills that are highly sought after in the oil and gas industry. You will trained in all aspects of the oil and gas value chain, i.e. petroleum formation, exploration, development and production, legal issues in the industry; health and safety and environmental management in the petroleum industry; petroleum economics and oil and gas markets among others. • At Victoria University, you will study in a modern campus with state of the start facilities; our oil and gas courses including degrees are approved by the National Council of Higher Education (NCHE); • Our short courses are internationally credited with accrediting institutions such as the Institute for Public Private Partnership (IP3) based in Washington, D.C. (USA), Global Environmental Managers (UK) and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), Global Training and Accreditation Services (GTACS), UK and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), UK.
