Emmanuel Khaukha Sworn In as Victoria University's 8th Guild President
On Friday, 28th February 2025, Victoria University marked a new chapter in student governance as it welcomed its 8th Guild leadership body.
Upholding its tradition of fostering student leadership through the Guild system, the university once again demonstrated its commitment to democracy and student empowerment.
Following a fair and transparent election, Emmanuel Khaukha, a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Pharmacy, emerged victorious and was sworn in as Guild President for the 2025/2026 term. His leadership is expected to bring fresh energy and innovative ideas to the student body and the university at large.
Speaking at the inauguration, Nassiwa Winfred Mbaziira, Dean of Students at Victoria University, expressed confidence in Khaukha’s potential.
“I have every confidence that you are going to be extraordinary as a leader at Victoria University. You have the ability to lead, you have integrity, you have demonstrated compassion, and above all, I believe you have a clear vision,” she added.
With Khaukha at the helm, the university anticipates a dynamic and impactful leadership term that will further enhance student representation and university life.
The university management commended the outgoing Guild leadership, led by Emmanuel Kintu, for their dedication and efforts in making Victoria University a thriving hub for education, growth, and innovation. Their contributions have left a lasting impact, paving the way for an even brighter future.
As the new Guild body assumes office, Prof. Augustine Osamor I, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, delivered a powerful message of encouragement.
“Your election to various positions reflects not only your peers’ confidence in your abilities but also their belief in your vision for our university community. As you take on your new roles, I urge you to serve with diligence, integrity, and purpose,” he added.
Hon. Okot Boniface Henry, Youth MP for the Northern Region, lauded the university for its commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive leadership, highlighting its role in empowering young women to take on leadership positions.
“With what we are seeing here at this university, you are deliberately empowering the girl child. This means these young women are capable of opening doors for their families and communities,” he added.
His remarks underscored the university’s progressive approach to leadership, ensuring that all students, regardless of gender, are equipped to excel, inspire, and drive meaningful change in society.
Emmanuel Khaukha, the newly elected Guild President, expressed deep gratitude to the university for entrusting him with the mantle of leadership. He pledged to lead with respect, unwavering commitment, and hard work to ensure effective and inclusive service delivery for the entire student body.
