Veteran Journalist and former host of Voice of Africa’s Straight Talk Africa Show, Shaka Ssali died last night, just two weeks to his 72nd birthday. It is against this background that various dignitaries world-wide have sent comforting messages to the family and media fraternity. Victoria University is among other institutions that has come up to sympathize with the world. Through their X handle, the University says they recognize the pain that comes with the loss of Ssali.

“The entire Victoria University community extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late, Shaka Ssali. We recognize the deep pain that comes with such a loss, and we stand in solidarity with you during this difficult time. Losing a friend is like losing a part of one’s own story, and we pray that you find strength and comfort in the memories you shared. Please accept our sincere sympathies. May you find peace in the legacy your loved one leaves behind and in the lives he touched. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all,” Victoria University said in a statement.

Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, Prof. Lawrence Muganga has identified the late as one with kind and generous spirit. “Africa has lost a towering figure in Journalism. His firm dedication to the craft, together with his kindness and generosity of spirit, touched countless lives. Shaka’s legacy will live on through the powerful stories he shared, the people he inspired, and the love he spread. I am truly grateful to have had privilege of knowing him. To the family and friends, I offer my deepest condolences during this extremely difficult time. May all who had the honor of knowing Shaka find comfort in the cherished memories and the lasting impact he made on the world. Rest in Peace, Ndugu Shaka Ssali you will always be missed,” Muganga explained.
