1. Senior Lecturers and Lecturers (4 Positions), in the following disciplines:

• Human Resource Management

• Tourism and Hospitality

• Economics and Mathematics

• Psychology

Job Purpose:

Teach, supervise, mentor, evaluate graduate and under-graduate students; conduct research in his/her area of expertise, disseminate research findings, participate in community service and supervise teaching staff below the rank of Senior Lecturer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Teaching and Learning

a) Prepare, teach, mentor, supervise and evaluate graduate and under-graduate students using current, appropriate, effective teaching, learning methodologies and tools.

b) Liaise with the HOD to ensure that the teaching schedule for graduate and under- graduate students is available before the beginning of semester.

c) Evaluate students using continuous assessments and end of the semester exams through effective tools such as coursework, viva-voce, written exams and submitting results to the department on time.

d) Train and mentor graduate students and academic staff below his/her rank in area of expertise to enhance their learning and teaching skills.

e) Compile quarterly reports on the respective Academic activities and present to the Head of Department.

f) Participate in programme development and review. g) Supervise student internship/field work in his/her discipline.

h) Attend departmental and faculty meetings when called upon.

i) Serve in the Faculty academic, innovation, research and other relevant committees.

2. Research, Publications, consultancies, and Grants

a) Conduct/participate, supervise novel researches and disseminate the findings through;

i. Refereed research journals and articles.

ii. Public lectures, conferences/symposiums, seminars and workshops.

b) Liaise with the HOD to provide high quality postgraduate research supervision and attract research students to the University.

c) Participate in writing proposals and bidding for grant projects as principal investigator

(PI) or lead consultant in his/her area of specialization.

d) Review proposals for research grants by graduate students and other academic staff in order to offer guidance and feedback.

e) Offer expertise and strategic direction within own research field and review of journals/publications/books in their respective academic discipline.

f) Maintain a high-quality record of regular and original research publications of reputable standards in the relevant field or discipline.

3. Community Engagement

a) Participate in community engagements/outreaches in different organizations to identify problems related to the area of expertise and work towards solutions.

b) Act as a contact person in the specific field of engagement to stakeholders.

c) Attend relevant conferences/ symposia/ seminars/ workshops to disseminate research findings.

d) Assist the Dean/HoD in liaising with various communities and stakeholders in relation to student’s activities and other collaborations.

4. Financial

a) Generate revenue through grants and consultancies for the department and University at large

 

Job Requirements for applicants to Human Resource Management discipline

a) PhD in relevant discipline master’s and bachelor’s degree in Human Resource

Management from reputable institution of higher learning.

b) At least three publications/articles in refereed journals within the last five years.

i. Should be first author to at least one publication.

ii. Where the applicant has published a reputable book, this should be equated to three publications.

c) At least three years teaching experience, two of which must have been at the level of lecturer in a reputable institution of higher learning and must have supervised at least one graduate student to completion.

d) Computer Literacy such as MS Office Packages like Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Job Requirements for applicants to Tourism and Hospitality discipline

a) PhD in relevant discipline master’s and bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality from reputable institution of higher learning.

b) At least three publications/articles in refereed journals within the last five years.

i. Should be first author to at least one publication.

ii. Where the applicant has published a reputable book, this should be equated to three publications.

c) At least three years teaching experience, two of which must have been at the level of lecturer in a reputable institution of higher learning. and must have supervised at least one graduate student to completion.

d) Computer Literacy such as MS Office Packages like Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Job Requirements for applicants to Economics and Mathematics discipline

a) PhD in relevant discipline master’s and bachelor’s degree in Economics and

Mathematics from reputable institution of higher learning.

b) At least three publications/articles in refereed journals within the last five years.

i. Should be first author to at least one publication.

ii. Where the applicant has published a reputable book, this should be equated to three publications.

c) At least three years teaching experience, two of which must have been at the level of lecturer in a reputable institution of higher learning. and must have supervised at least one graduate student to completion.

d) Computer Literacy such as MS Office Packages like Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Job Requirements for applicants to Psychology discipline

a) PhD in relevant discipline, a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from reputable institution of higher learning.

b) At least three publications/articles in refereed journals within the last five years.

i. Should be first author to at least one publication.

ii. Where the applicant has published a reputable book, this should be equated tothree publications.

 c) At least three years teaching experience, two of which must have been at the level of lecturer in a reputable institution of higher learning and must have suprvised at least one graduate student to completion.

d) Computer Literacy such as MS Office Packages like Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Membership with the Counselling Association of Uganda.

 

2. Assistant Lecturer – Computer / Software Engineering (1 Position)

Job Purpose:

Prepare, teach, mentor and evaluate under-graduate, and graduate students at the level of post-graduate diploma using current, innovative, appropriate and effective teaching and learning methodologies and tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Teaching and Learning:

a) To prepare, teach, mentor and evaluate under-graduate and post graduate diploma students to enhance their learning skills.

b) Train and mentor Teaching Assistants in his/her area of expertise, teaching and learning to build their teaching skills

c) Evaluate students using continuous assessments and end of semester exams through relevant tools, invigilating written exams, marking and submitting results to the department on time.

d) Supervise students’ internship/fieldwork in his/her discipline as per departmental approved schedule.

e) Attend departmental meetings when called upon.

f) Compile quarterly reports on the respective Academic activities and present to the immediate supervisor.

g) Preparing teaching schedule and lecture materials before beginning of semester and submitting to the HOD.

2. Research, Publications, consultancies, and Grants a) Assisting students under their supervision in the area of research, scholarly publication, grants writing and consultancy skills.

b) To participate in scholarly work such as writing articles, giving public lectures, attending conferences/symposiums, seminars and workshops.

c) To review research proposals/projects of undergraduate students and teaching assistants in the area of specialty and provide them with timely feedback.

d) To be a member of the faculty innovation and research committee.

3. Community Engagement

a) Assist the supervisor in community engagements/outreaches in different organizations to identify problems related to the area of expertise and work towards solutions as and when called upon.

b) Assist the immediate supervisor in liaising with various communities and stakeholders in relation to student’s activities and other collaborations.

Job requirements

a) A Master’s Degree in relevant discipline OR a first-class degree in Computer Science,

Computer Engineering Software Engineering from a reputable institution, in a clinical discipline and having acquired and successfully passed all the 1st year courses in relevant clinical Master’s degree program.

b) Experience is not required

c) Computer Literacy such as MS Office Packages like Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

3. In Service Lecturers - Early Childhood Education (2 Positions), in the following disciplines

• Physical Education

• Integrated Science and mathematics

Job Purpose:

Prepare, teach, mentor and evaluate under-graduate, graduate students at the level of

Masters, post graduate diploma using current, innovative, appropriate, effective teaching, learning methodologies and tools

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Teaching and Learning

a) Prepare, teach, mentor and evaluate under graduate and graduate students using continuous assessments and end of semester exams through effective tools such as practical, viva-voce, invigilating written exams and timely submission of results to the HOD.

b) Prepare teaching schedule and lecture materials before beginning of semester and submitting to the HOD.

c) Train and mentor academic staff below his/her academic rank in his/her area of expertise, teaching and learning to build the teaching skills.

d) Promote theoretically informed and innovative approaches to learning and teaching.

e) Supervise student internship/field work in his/her discipline.

f) Provide training and mentorship sessions to graduate students to enhance their learning skills.

g) Participate in programme development and review as and when necessary.

h) Attend departmental meetings when called upon.

i) Compile quarterly reports on the respective Academic activities and present to the Head of Department.

2. Research, Publications, consultancies, and Grants

a) Assist students under their supervision in the area of research, scholarly publication, grants writing and consultancy skills.

b) Contribute towards building a high-quality record of regular, original and reputable research publications in the relevant field or discipline.

c) Identify and submit grants and consultancy proposals for funding.

d) Participate in scholarly work such as writing peer reviewed articles, giving public lectures, attending conferences/symposia, seminars and workshops.

e) Review research proposals/projects of students and staff under his/her supervision and provide them with timely feedback.

3. Community Engagement

a) Participate in the community engagements/outreaches in different organizations to identify problems related to the area of expertise and work towards solutions.

b) Act as a contact person in the relevant discipline of expertise.

Job Requirements:

a) PhD in relevant discipline or Master’s degree in Education major in i) Physical

Education ii) Science and Mathematics from a reputable institution of higher learning.

b) Experience is not required

c) Computer Literacy such as MS Office Packages like Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
