Position:         Professors/ Associate Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, Assistant Lecturers

Discipline - Full time

Business and Management, Computer/Software Engineering, Mathematics, Law, Anatomy and Physiology, Public Health

Psychology (Digital)- Part time

Reports To:   Head of Department

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Provide knowledge of his/her subjects through contribution of original works, teaching, examining and provision of academic guidance and leadership to Department staff.

·       Plan strategically, develop and manage academic affairs of the department.

·       Laise with the faculty Dean and devise mechanism to increase the student numbers in the department

·       Ensure that the quality of academic programmes, teaching, research and consultancy related services in the Department are in tandem with prevailing higher education approved standards and market trends.

·       Participate in developing local, regional and international collaborations to ensure quality internships and job placements for students

·       Formulate, the framework and tools for assessment of academic staff teaching quality by students and peers, and disseminate results to relevant academic staff, management, and other relevant stakeholders. 

·       Contribute to the development of the university research profile

·       Participate in designing, reviewing and updating course content to ensure relevance and academic quality

·       Set, administer and grade assignments, tests and examinations in a fair and timely manner.

Qualifications: 

Professor/ Associate Professors

  • A PhD in a related field of study.
  • At least 10 years of teaching experience in a recognised higher education institution
  • National and international reputation and expertise in the field, evidenced by significant publication output in internationally recognised journals (at least 15 publications)

Senior Lecturer

  • A PhD candidate in a relevant field.
  • Master of Science degree in Environmental Economics from a recognised Institution of higher learning.
  •  First class or 2nd Class Upper division Bachelors
  • Three (3) years of university teaching experience or relevant working experience in

·       a reputable organisation or Industry.

  • Four (4) recognised publications in the area of specialisation, two (2) of which as the

·       First/ Corresponding/ Senior author.

  • Evidence of publications or contributions to the Community

 

Lecturer

  • A PhD candidate in a relevant field.
  • Master of Science degree in Environmental Economics from a recognised Institution of higher learning.
  • First class or 2nd Class Upper division Bachelors
  • Three (3) years of university teaching experience or relevant working experience in

·       a reputable organisation or Industry.

  • Evidence of publications or contributions to the Community

 

     Assistant Lecturer

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, teach, mentor and evaluate under-graduate and postgraduate diploma students to enhance their learning skills.
  • Train and mentor Teaching Assistants in his/her area of expertise, teaching, and learning to build their teaching skills.
  • Evaluate students using continuous assessments and end of the semester exams through effective tools invigilating written exams, and marking and submitting results to the department on time.
  • Supervise students’ internship/field work in his/her discipline as per the departmentally approved schedule.
  • Attend departmental and faculty meetings when called upon.
  • Compile quarterly reports on the respective Academic activities and present to the immediate supervisor.
  • Preparing teaching schedule and lecture materials before the beginning of the semester and submitting to the HOD.

 

Qualifications: 

·       Master's degree in a relevant field from a recognised Institution of higher learning.

·       First class or 2nd Class division Bachelors

·       Three (1) years of university teaching experience or relevant working experience in a      reputable organisation or Industry.

·       Evidence of publications or contributions to the Community

d)    Names and addresses of three referees who should be advised to send reference letters directly to the Human Resource Manager under confidential cover.

e)    Evidence of contribution to the development and performance of colleagues through coaching and mentoring

f)      Experience in preparing grant applications for submission

g)    Ability to communicate well, conveying ideas and concepts clearly and effectively

h)    Ability to develop skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues

i)      Good leadership skills
