Admission Requirements
To gain admission to the programme, a candidate must first of all satisfy the general requirements for admission into Victoria University at a Bachelors level. In addition, a candidate shall be eligible for admissions to the programme on meeting any of the following minimum qualifications: -
a) Direct Entry
At least two principal passes in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) level in one sitting or its equivalent and at least a credit in mathematics at O-level.
b) Diploma Entry
(i) Any Diploma (Upper credit and above) from a recognized Institution of learning can be admitted or
(ii) Candidates with at least a second-class, Lower division and five passes at ordinary level in one sitting plus one principal pass will be considered Crediting the Diploma qualification will be done as follows to obtain the CPA for the year;
CLASS- CPGA
First Class 4.40 - 5.00
Second Class (Upper Division) 4.00-4.39
Second Class (Lower Division) 2.80-3.90
Pass 2.00 - 2.79
Fail Less than 2.00
Unclassified Diploma will be evaluated from the transcripts.
c) Mature Age Entry Scheme
A pass in appropriate mature- Age examinations conducted by a recognized institution.
Credit transfer from other universities
There will be a possibility of credit transfer from other Ugandan Universities. The formula will be worked out according to the university senate.

At the end of this programe, the graduates shall be able to:
● Use and explain the core concepts and theories of computing and computer applications.
● Design and construct computer systems from given specifications
● Use business analysis tools and models built with standard desktop applications to enhance problem understanding, design of usable systems and quality decision making.
● Apply a range of technologies and data visualisation techniques to effectively communicate business recommendations to intended audiences.
● Critically analyse global Information Systems issues with a view to designing solutions that adhere to professional and ethical standards
● To demonstrate systematic and critical understanding of key issues underlying computers, software, the Internet, information systems, e-Commerce, databases and algorithms, including coherent and detailed knowledge from specialist options
● To explain and demonstrate how theoretical models and abstractions underpin reasoning about computing systems
● Identify the social, organizational and technical issues relevant to the Implementation of computer systems in a business (or similar) Environment.
● Discuss the use of appropriate management techniques to deliver IT based Services within a business context.
● Identify and model requirements for specialised computing systems, and propose and evaluate solutions to fulfill them
● Develop and critically evaluate specifications for specialist computer systems
● Use appropriate theories, practices and tools for the specification, design, Implementation and evaluation of computer-based systems
● Demonstrate advanced, specialist theoretical and practical knowledge in a range of computer science sub-fields
● Explain the legal, social, ethical and professional issues involved in the exploitation of computer technology with respect to good professional practice.
